After being in musical limbo for the past six weeks, we’re back in action today from 4:30pm at Whistlebinkies, Edinburgh. It’s our temporary home for a couple of months until Bannerman’s gets refurbished. Classic rock with a twist. Beatles, Stones, Bowie, Prince. Come on down!
Update: Seep asked me to email them, which I did, including some photos. Nice people. Offered me a full refund which I accepted. Once the product is further developed and becomes as good as their Customer Service then I’ll give them another go.
Spent £30 on a pack of SEEP dishwashing sponges in an attempt to save the planet. That’s 20 times the price of my usual Tesco sponges. They’re supposed to last a month each and be washable. Here’s my first one after 2 week’s use. It’s ready for the bin already. A great idea but…
I’m beyond delighted that Scotland are in the World Cup finals but does this mean we’re going to have to listen to “Yes Sir, I Can Boogie” on constant repeat for the next few weeks? I mean, it’s a decent slice of *fun pop* but it’s like hearing the same joke over and over again.
Has anyone successfully consumed a McDonald’s “Big Arch” burger without immediately needing to shower afterwards?
I’ve just “experienced” one and It’s a big sloppy mess…but actually quite tasty.
It’s basically the Battle of the Somme…in burger form.
Tonight’s gig features a local lad now based in Suffolk but a frequent visitor to his ancestral homeland. Some say he never really left. Check out @TommyAshbyMusic. He’s rather good, as are his two companion minstrels!
1/2 My enjoyment of last night’s Richard Thompson Edinburgh show was diminished somewhat by the seriously uncomfortable seating in the otherwise majestic @theusherhall. My seat (Grand Circle B13) was set at 90* to the stage which meant twisting my large 6’4” frame and…
@WeeFi24 No. I just tolerated it until 10 mins from the end when I moved to the “accessible” area. I’ll know next time not to book in that section again.
@docsuzy It’s a tough call. I saw the lyrics for these a few days ago but didn’t realise T had actually recorded them as songs. Gotta say he sounds so young and fresh and the band are cooking! 🎼😎🎼
@starbloooo Spot on. £55 to hear some excellent music whilst being tortured. Not my idea of a great night out these days, aged 63. Perhaps in the 1980s I’d have enjoyed it! 🎼😎🎼
@KenfaeFife My main issue however was with the seating. Grand Circle Seat B13 was clearly designed for one of Snow White’s henchmen and was facing the audience opposite rather than the stage. It genuinely spoiled the show for me. No offence to RT who delivered as always. @theusherhall
Excellent solo performance by Hamish Hawk opening for Richard Thompson in Edinburgh tonight. Here’s a rare acoustic rendition of his modern classic “The Mauritian Badminton Doubles Champion 1973” from the show:
