Despite offering occasional drink pairings, the "drunk" in Drunk Literature was never meant to be fully literal. The point is that #reading and #writing don't have to be highbrow. #Literature is open to anyone. 👏 If we can make great #books a bit more accessible, that's the win.
It would be an understatement to say that @MariahCarey “narrates” her @audible_com book. She PERFORMS the whole 11 hours, including artful ad libs, a cappella interludes, and even some impressions. It’s a great memoir and a triumph of the audio genre. Five stars, dahhhhling. 🥂
Watching @allinwithchris and seeing so many great books on that shelf behind @Sifill_LDF. Caste, New Jim Crow, Devil In the Grove, Thick, A Burning... Wow 🤩. Sherrilyn, you MUST give us a tour of that bookshelf! We need to see the rest! #Bookshelf#BookTwitter#ZoomBackgrounds
@KerriArsenault Thank you for sharing. My copy of Mill Town is tattered and dog-eared and filled with ink smudges from the underlines and margin notes. You captured something really resonant and it felt very natural to include a few of your words here. Thank you! ❤️
Off topic here, but I happen to have an op-ed in my newspaper discussing #fracking, @realDonaldTrump, and gendered ideas about work. LMK what you think! 🙏 (Fellow bookworms may appreciate the quote from @KerriArsenault's fantastic new memoir, #MillTown.) https://t.co/619mgOoFqM
Key takeaway from @nytimes story on #TrumpTaxReturns is not just that he is a shitty businessman & pays no taxes. It’s that the presidency is the only thing saving him from accountability & ASTRONOMICAL debt imminently due. Vital context on attempts to steal/subvert the election.
Great piece of food writing from a Twitter friend whose posts and engagements I quite enjoy! 😊 Give a read and re-plan your weekend around soup-making? 🍲🍂 #FallFood#FoodWriting#Reading#WritingCommunity
Bursting with excitement over here! My first real piece of food writing is out in the world.
Yes, I published a couple of food tours, but this is genuine food writing with narrative arc and I am so thrilled!

Not book-related 🤷🏻♂️ but need to vocalize how @1NatalieMaines belting “go it alone” somehow manages to be simultaneously heartbreaking and *deeply* empowering. If you haven’t yet checked out the new @thechicks album, I’ve been jamming for WEEKS and strongly recommend. #Gaslighter
@MagicalOverload You can always consider trying this classic from @MiraSorvino:
“Would you excuse me? I cut my foot before and my shoe is filling up with blood.”

Currently listening to Fathoms: The World in the Whale by @rebeccagiggs. I was expecting to learn but wasn’t expecting to cry in my car. (Multiple times, sh*t happens.) 😭 A beautiful book, more than I can do justice in a tweet. Beautifully narrated too. https://t.co/1zxmzYuoKc
Thinking about #ShirleyChisholm today. For me, the most revelatory part of Unbought & Unbossed was how many issues were still relevant today, decades after Shirley wrote. #KamalaHarris is making history today, but we also honor those — like Shirley — who paved the way. #Books
Read this article, then dive deeper into Real Queer America by @SLAwrites. I listened to the @audible_com version and it was one of my favorites of the year so far. Part ethnography, part travel memoir, part social history. Interesting and very timely! 🙌

@PBW_Poet A real struggle recently. I start books and — even if I love them — struggle to hold my attention to the end. Be easy and take care of yourself. The books aren’t going anywhere. Solidarity from a fellow struggler. ✌️❤️
Tonight’s #cocktail was a spin on Gin Fizz: fresh-squeezed cara cara orange juice, honey-based simple syrup, summer batch gin and egg white, shaken with ice. Poured into a highball and topped w/ grapefruit & orange essenced seltzer water. Book by #JoanDidion, the great. #Reading
I’ve been posting more on Instagram lately. (1) I’ll do a better job of tweeting, because I really do appreciate everyone who follows and engages. (2) I will love anyone who pops over and follows on IG, where I’m doing some cool longer-form stuff. ✌️🥂

@ericcervini@librarycongress Appreciated the balancing of Kameny as a pioneer and venerable figure with the acknowledgement of shortcomings & failures (e.g., lack of intersectionality) of him & the early movement. Great, timely work. 👏 Love nonfiction that moves me to dig deeper & explore other characters.
