Today a senior I’d never met before on finishing our meeting said;
“thank you for everything you do”
It made me realise that genuine thanks from our bosses can be too rare in the NHS and then I thought, I’m “a boss” too.
This is me pledging to say “thank you” more in future.
a girl in my office was shaking her protein shake and this woman poked her head around the corner and said “do I hear margaritas?”... no Olivia, it’s 9 am.
We offer many resources for our dying pt & family. Often with spouses we make a heart out of their thumbprints and put it in a frame.
This weekend we made a family tree, with all their prints & grandpa (pt) at the top with the quote
"Strong roots produce beautiful leaves"
It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.
When someone in our unit is dying we place candles. A little boy came in & was excited to see the candles, "Is it a birthday party?" His mom told him that yes, it was soon going to be for many people.
The candles were for his dad, who was going for organ donation.
