DuckDB 2.0 comes this fall! Mark is calling this "the year of DuckDB as a server", which is super helpful to us at MotherDuck. Big features include:
Async I/O for faster DuckLakes & S3 r/w, Triggers for automation, & partition aware queries for speed at big scale.
Quack on!
We love @duckdb and this development is more than welcome - it's a genuine breakthrough. 💛 It also underscores our own work in concurrency and deadlock elimination 'by construction'. https://t.co/nJFoxcDhdj
Y’all ready for this?
The annual “State of the Duck” keynote by DuckDB co-creators Hannes Mühleisen and Mark Raasveldt is mere moments away.
Whether you’re joining us in Amsterdam or on the livestream, we hope you’re pumped to learn more about what’s on the horizon for the future of the Duck Stack straight from the DuckLabs team. 🦆

pdo_duckdb: a PDO driver for @duckdb, the in-process analytical database. Query DuckDB through the same PDO API you already use for SQLite and Postgres. Prepared statements, named and positional params, transactions, foreach over results.
My first PDO driver in 15+ years. I co-authored PDO itself back around 2005.

🦆 There's only one week to go until DuckCon #7 in Amsterdam! We are all hyped to meet the flock and learn about the latest cool use cases from our community. As always, the event will feature the “State of the Duck” talk from DuckDB's co-creators.
🥇 A big shout-out to the event's Gold Sponsor, MotherDuck. In the warmup session, they will give a talk explaining the differences between MotherDuck and self-hosted DuckDB.

Today, we are releasing DuckDB v1.4.5 and v1.5.4. Yes, we know – these version numbers can be a bit confusing!
You are most likely interested in v1.5.4 (codename: Variegata), our latest stable release.
If you are using DuckDB's long-term support version, then v1.4.5 LTS (codename: Andium) is the one for you.
We have two separate blog posts for the releases – links in the thread 🧵
