I’m not a Democrat. I didn’t vote for Democrats — I voted for Trump. And when previous administrations did shit I believed was unconstitutional, I called them out too.

I’m not going to suddenly abandon that standard because the person doing it now is the person I voted for. If anything, holding your own side accountable matters more.

I didn’t vote for a king. I voted for a president who is still bound by the Constitution. So yes, when Trump does something I believe is unconstitutional as fuck, I’m going to say it’s unconstitutional as fuck.

I don’t give a damn whether you like CNN, MS NOW, Politico, Fox News, or none of them. That is not the point.

The First Amendment wasn’t written to protect speech we agree with. It exists specifically because the government cannot be trusted with the power to decide which voices are acceptable and which ones deserve to be silenced.

When the President bans news organizations from the White House because he believes their reporting is negative, false, or unfair, that should concern EVERY American — including the people who support him.

Because once we accept the idea that the government can punish the press for reporting it doesn’t like, the only question left is who gets silenced next?

If CNN lies, expose the lie. Correct the record. Sue for defamation when the legal standard is actually met. Call them out publicly. But government retaliation against the press because of its viewpoint? That is exactly the kind of government power the First Amendment was designed to restrain.

I can support policies from a president and STILL call bullshit when I believe the Constitution is being violated. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

Freedom of speech and freedom of the press do not belong to Republicans or Democrats. They belong to all of us. And suppressing either because you don’t like what’s being said is unconstitutional as fuck.

This is a very bad decision, President @realDonaldTrump - it’s not the media’s job to give you endless praise. It’s their job to hold you and your administration to rigorous account. Banning them is a suppression of free speech and unconstitutional.
