January 4 is National Ribbon Skirt Day, which celebrates the skirts traditionally worn by Indigenous women. It was inspired by Isabella Kulak, an Indigenous girl who wore a ribbon skirt to her school's Formal Dress Day but was told it did not meet the standard of formal dress.
