President Tinubu chose well and he chose early instead of waiting until the last minute. Senator Abdulaziz Yari is a proven force in northern politics and that proof is still visible. As campaign DG he brings both the long experience and the personal standing that the job actually needs. Northern elites have already decided they want the Renewed Hope Agenda to continue because they have seen enough to trust the direction. They also want power to remain in the South for reasons of equity that they now accept. The opposition is still building structures and announcing coordinators in a region that has already moved toward the APC in a quiet but steady way.
