Our last seminar was by Dr Scarponi on the effect of stress on sharks after being caught as bycatch. Fishing methods need to be change and improved NOW, to reduce the deaths of theses wonderful creatures! #2020EBE#conservation#bycatch#shark#stress
@DamienFarine 's research into Great Tits showed how once one bird in a population learnt how to crack the puzzle and be rewarded with a grub, news would spread following the social network ties and form a local tradition within the population. #2020EBE#zoology#greattit#social
@BethBees introduced how the heathland conservation project are employing 'Behaviour Change' to try and reach dog-walkers more successfully at the importance of keeping their dogs on their leads/ to paths! #2020EBE@sdnpa#conservation#Management https://t.co/Z4WnpC6O2X
Signs, they're everywhere! Telling us what to do it, where to put it, where not be, to keep off the grass! We see so many signs that now we are more likely to simply ignore it! This is not handy for conservation areas such as #heathlands. #sign#signblindness#2020EBE#conserve
It also showcases just how connected human society is with every species, a little too much in some cases. Hopefully celebrating images such as these will also spread #EnvironmentalAwareness , celebrate success stories and make people question certain traditions #Think#2020EBE
Awaiting @GeorgeMonbiot 's new book! It's a topic that will be headlining the news more and more as our actions promote climate change, invasive species, land-use change etc. and affect the agricultural industry #rethink#farming#agriculture#conservation#2020EBE
My column today is the last I'm writing this year. I'm spending the next month scaling the mountain of research for my book about how to feed the world without devouring the planet. I've read 2,000 papers so far. Many more still to come.
Exhausting, scary but also fascinating.
A deal has been made to demolish 4/6 dams along the Klamath River (U.S).
The dam has had a significant negative impact on local fish populations and the communities they support. Lets hope this will see the return of them!

Walking 20km this winter with some friends (socially distanced of course) for Shelter! Shelter provides support for anyone facing homelessness, which at the start of the pandemic was happening every 4 minutes! Any size donation would be hugely appreciated!

This statement is bone-chilling.
The government “is not responsible for the supply of food and drink to the population in an emergency”.
What the hell is government for, if not for this?
