We could envisage a time when the localism anti car movement prompts the revival of high streets but that's a way off perhaps. Shopping has certainly changed and with it the country.
The loss of M&S from British high streets is a big undocumented cultural shift.
The stores were hubs of British life for generations. and memories of them are deeply embedded in millions of lives.
'Our' Northampton M&S is now completely erased.
