Thanks for joining us for the 8th annual House of Dukelegates! We are proud to announce our motion was passed! Quick shoutout to our amazing mentors, we couldn’t have done it without them! 💙#dudpthod
@DukeHOD4 Interesting findings! We're wondering if you have info on the prevalence of neurological vs. orthopedic conditions! Could an increased prevalence of ortho conditions correlate to increased research? Or is the discrepancy even greater if neuro conditions outweigh ortho? #dudpthod
@DukeHOD4 We couldn't agree more. This is directly in line with our motion and our values. While 1-on-1 care with a PT or qualified care extender is not always feasible, we believe it should be recognized by the APTA as the highest standard of care we can provide to our patients. #dudpthod
@DukeHOD9 We appreciate you sharing your ideas and the steps to help implement them within your motion. What do you anticipate being the biggest hurdle to bridging the gap in care for the unhoused? #dudpthod
@DukeHOD9 We love seeing success in assisting the unhoused in other countries. Are there ways you have thought of to help make this feasible in America? What are some potential barriers you anticipate running into? #dudpthod
@DukeHOD2 Administering injections is an interesting thought! We are all for reducing pain and expediting rehab potential though! Another way that can be achieved is through 1-on-1 patient centered care. Do you think injections could be more successful if paired with 1 on 1 care? #dudpthod
@DukeHOD11 With projections like these, we wonder if it could also lead to an increase in 1 on 1 care. Seems as though we will have the supply of PTs to meet the demand for the highest quality of care! Do you have any thoughts on how 1 on 1 care might fit into the future of PT? #dudpthod
We are on a mission to redefine the standard of care in PT with 1:1 attention. It’s not a luxury; it’s a necessity for fostering trust, progress, and positive outcomes in every session. #dudpthod
Quality over quantity- 1:1 care in PT means dedicated time, attention, and expertise focused solely on one patient. It’s not just about healing, it’s about empowering the patient to thrive. #dudpthod
Evidence-based research supports the integration of 1:1 care into physical therapy practice, emphasizing its role in delivering personalized, patient-centered rehabilitation that meets the unique needs of each individual. #dudpthod
@DukeHod3@DptDuke6HOD We noticed part of value-based care is the pt being at the center. Do you see ways that treating more than one pt at once could take away from that? We believe there should be emphasis on the pt involved above all else! There’s no better way than seeing them 1-on-1! #dudpthod
@DukeHod14 1-on-1 conversations are a vital part of a PTs plan of care. We support not only these conversations, but also the recognition of 1-on-1 care as best practice! This keeps conversations private and the quality of care high! We're in it for the kids! #dudpthod
This blog post from Miracle Rehab Clinic emphasizes a few of the benefits to one-to-one physical therapy. Give it a read and let us know what other benefits there may be. #dudpthod

@DukeHOD8 Totally understandable! We don’t expect all PT to be entirely 1:1; however, we want it to be the optimal standard of care. The media can help display the benefits of 1:1 care, like building rapport, strong therapist-patient relationships, and increased patient safety. #dudpthod
We believe the APTA should acknowledge 1:1 care as the ideal practice in physical therapy, as it is important for patient/client needs and will provide quality physical therapy services

@DukeHOD8 Thank you, we would love to incorporate your feedback. While it may not reflect the current reality for everyone in the profession, that's precisely the aim of our proposal. Could you help us understand what aspects might be considered unrealistic? #dudpthod
"The evidence suggests that individuals choosing to multi-task might do so in a way that reduces their cognitive load, however they will still take a longer time to complete tasks and exhibit a higher frequency of errors when they multi-task." #dudpthod
