Scotland has lost a champion.
Scotland mourns the loss of one of its greatest political figures, Rt. Hon @AlexSalmond. I am filled with both sadness and gratitude. (1/5)
Tartan Army at its best and in good voice. Real ambassadors for our country and making friends with a’body
No Scotland, no party!🏴

Remembering my dear friend Alex Salmond in happier times. The legacy of the greatest leader the independence movement ever had and Scotland’s most innovative FM won’t be forgotten despite the treachery of his erstwhile comrades. #TheDreamShallNeverDie
Scotland misses this man, his inspiration, his leadership and his strength, and his warmth, but we will not stop and we will be free and he showed the ways it can be done
The treatment of Alex Salmond by @theSNP is almost as shameful as the trashing of his legacy. What’s left of the party should be ashamed of themselves. ‘SNP is pretending Alex Salmond, their greatest leader, never even existed' https://t.co/XSIWUkNmFg
However your position has developed since the morning of October 7th 2023, what remains true is those events ushered in two years of human catastrophe. I’ve had the privilege to meet with people who lost loved ones on either side. Their pain and loss underscore my long held view that violence is never a solution.
Today I will be remembering every innocent life lost and the words the late @AlexSalmond published in response to the attack.
“There has been a long and sorry catalogue of atrocities throughout the history of this conflict.
“Terrorist action against civilians can never be justified and neither can military reprisals which lead to killing and maiming of children. Both sides should be told by the international community to now choose the path of de-escalation and ceasefire.
“There can be no lasting settlement which ignores long-standing United Nations resolutions and there is no path to peace which can be initiated by violence against civilians.”
Rt Hon. Alex Salmond 9th October 2023
I will pray for peace.
October is @bhmuk. @SEMLAlaw is spotlighting black lawyers in the legal profession in Scotland this month. Visible role models in the profession are important to inspire and encourage the next generation of lawyers. The first interview is Arnold Masayila of @HarperMacleod.
I am honoured to take over as Chair of JUSTICE Scotland. @JUSTICEhq is a phenomenal organisation that has made a significant contribution to law reform since 1957. Nearly 10% of JUSTICE’s members are in Scotland. 1/2

If the UK Government think it is acceptable to dictate devolved policy matters then the Scottish Government should start pursuing reserved policy matters.
It's time to play Westminster at their own game.

Myself and @GhaziAlba with members of Caird Park Golf Club - we visited them this afternoon following the decision of @DundeeCouncil to close the course from next year - they are angry at not having been listened to - @DundeeAlba will be there with them in their campaign - more to follow!
