Holy misinformation.
It's not an AI data center. It's a colocation site for companies transferring their own servers to a new data center. Also it's in Pulong Santa Cruz, not Golden City lol it's the other side of Santa Rosa.
PLDT has had their VITRO subsidiary since the 2000s
@BluebriarArts I don't believe automation of labor is bad. The byproduct of it, of course, is the displacement of workers, but that just means we will need to upskill. And I don't believe GenAI is merely the automation of a job, because it's done so much more harm than just automation.

A new study suggests that massive AI-powered data centers can create their own localized heat islands, increasing nearby land surface temperatures by an average of around 2°C, with some hotspots reaching up to 9°C hotter than surrounding areas.
The warming isn't limited to the facilities themselves, it can spread for kilometers, potentially affecting nearby communities and ecosystems. Researchers attribute the heat to continuously running servers and the energy-intensive cooling systems needed to keep them from overheating.
The study also indicates that this phenomenon is becoming widespread, with rapidly growing data center hubs across Asia, Europe, and the Americas potentially exposing hundreds of millions of people to increased local warming. Scientists say the environmental impact of data centers extends beyond carbon emissions, emphasizing that their contribution to localized heating remains largely overlooked in climate planning. #HeatIsland #DataCenter #Weather

Mariin nating kinokondena ang tangkang pag-aresto sa mga photojournalists na sina Bullit Marquez at Rene Dilan.
This is utterly unacceptable. Maliwanag naman na ginagawa lang nila ang trabaho nila, bakit sila pipigilan? Lalong kalabisan na aarestuhin pa sila. Beyond the damaged equipment, what is more troubling is the chilling effect that these deplorable actions have on the media.
In light of this, we renew our call for the passage of our proposed Journalists’ Welfare and Protection Act, which seeks to establish a framework for protecting the rights and welfare of journalists and media employees.
Under this measure, media entities are required to provide additional insurance coverage and tax-free hazard pay to employees working online, in the field, or as freelancers.
Journalists and media practitioners are agents of truth. Ang pagprotekta sa kanila at sa malayang pamamahayag ay paggalang hindi lang sa kanilang mga karapatan kundi sa ating demokrasya.
