Why I chose D2C over an MBA at an IIM
Last year, I gave CAT and scored 98.17 percentile, eventually received offers from IIM Ranchi and IIM Kashipur.
But I wasn’t happy.
Partly because I hadn’t secured a higher-ranked IIM with my percentile (big reality check )
But more importantly, I had no good answer to a much simpler question:
Why do I actually want to do an MBA?
In the interviews, I had the perfect answer.
In reality, I had no clue what attracted me to spend ₹20L+ on a degree.
Was it the career opportunities?
The job security?
The status?
So I decided to work in D2C instead, where I could actually learn how a business works.
Fortunately, I got the opportunity to join @clapstoretoys as a Growth Marketer.
And what a decision that’s been.
I was given real responsibility from day one , along with all the glory, pressure and stress that comes with it.
I’m now helping generate ₹1Cr+ in revenue every month through Meta.
Honestly, I still don’t know whether I made the right decision.
But I wake up excited (and sometimes stressed) about work every day.
And I’d take that uncertainty over spending ₹20L on a path I wasn’t sure I wanted.
Thanks @veddaang (ily)
I still have 24 months to prove my decision correct
Has anyone actually tried running ChatGPT ads for conversions?
Curious how it’s performing for D2C brands
What were you selling, and how did CAC and ROAS compare to Meta?
Would love to hear some actual results.
STOP MAKING PANIC CHANGES TO YOUR CAMPAIGNS BECAUSE OF 1-DAY PERFORMANCE.
Something so obvious, yet we completely forget it.
So here’s your reminder to STOP reacting to every dip in ROAS.
Look at the 3-day performance before touching anything.
If something needs fixing, it’s probably the creative.

Hot take:
AI will kill UGC.
I made this video in under 5 minutes, and honestly, it looks insanely close to a real UGC video.
It’s only a matter of time before the gap between AI and real content closes completely.
UGC is already losing its authenticity, and in a world where you can’t distinguish real from AI, what exactly makes UGC trustworthy?
Big creators with established audiences will probably be fine.
But for newer UGC creators will suffer

What if customers could interact with your product before buying it?
Instead of relying on static images and videos to communicate the product experience, what if the PDP itself could let customers experience it?
I have recently added a feature to our Mantra Chanting Krishna PDP which lets visitors interact with the product (click on hands/tummy and hear mantras).
Curious to know if anyone has experimented with something similar and had a meaningful impact on CVR.
