@DaddyBird It's definitely a strategy. From what I know, the author is genuine, but it still contributes to a larger game plan. That, and genuine intents from creative staff have been overwritten by business management. I don't doubt Kevin feels some sense of sorrow, but that may not matter
A nice public statement. Though, and I mean this without any ill will or intent, it doesn't solve much at the moment.
Looking forward to a clearer, more transparent path. Will WotC pull through? Maybe, but we've had good PR statements from WotC before with little consequence.
In other news, the pre-order for Masks of Power, my Majoras Mask inspired 5e sourcebook, is now open. It ha rules for making magic masks out of all creature types, an adventure, and new archetypes

Happy Birthday @justicearman ! You've been a positive influence to us here at DumpStat and we love seeing your ambitions and work online! Thank you for inspiring our friends and for the rest you do.
I was able to speak to former and current WotC employees for this latest piece, and the situation inside the Seattle stronghold is dire. Here's a report on some of what happened in between the OGL 1.1 leak on Jan 5 and the apology yesterday.

@Dalpatine Going after content creators, employees, and just being nasty to others is definitely awful. It's sad to see but i understand people are concerned, upset, and angry too.
OGL discussions are a lot right now. My concerns of commenting at the moment are just based on the fact that we don't know for certain what that final doc is going to look like.
But that doesn't mean we can't be concerned.
Over the past week we have witnessed an incredible outpour of passion and dedication from our community working together to protect and cultivate the inclusive environment of Dungeons & Dragons.

There's still a bunch of questions that I'd like to see answered, but that will have to come with time. This response feels tired (understandable), but it doesn't mean problems are nonexistent anymore.
Honestly, the community managers writing this sound tired. I could only imagine.
It does appear that some of the "overreaching" was what others have called out as brand protection. CR did this, Warhammer did this. There still is some weird stuff that's come since a few days ago.
We support and open game and open license. I'm going to refrain from commenting on the current leak further, but know we do not support WotC or Hasbro to kneecap creators' financial incentives for being in this space, past, present or future.
There is positive discussion happening and good display showing that as a space of creators, a new OGL needs to respect that space.
Why? Because D&D exists in that space, not the other way around.
