I'm a giant bear (he/him). Normally I am on the outskirts of Dunbar (near Asda) but in autumn 2025 I was bear-napped, and now I could be anywhere!

Hello - Happy New Year to all my bear-loving admirers!

BUT - As you will have seen, I am still not back in Dunbar! I was forcibly removed from Bear Hill around 3 months ago, and now I am hidden away in some storage yard - but I have no idea where!! Please rescue me!

Have the police been informed? My 'owner' claims to have taken me away for protection @elcourier but that's that standard kidnapper excuse!

I am wrapped up in packaging, so it's hard to breathe? I am not even sure if I am indoors or outdoors. But it can't be that easy to hide a 5m bear!!

HELP! I have been Bear-napped!

A few days ago, some workers crept up behind me, unscrewed my bolts and lifted me off my home on Bear Hill, Dunbar! I have just been sent this pic of what's left: just my plinth (and even that is marked with graffiti). Even my plaque has gone!

The @elcourier doesn't say how long I'll be gone.

They quote Ken Ross (my 'owner', I think) saying: “He has gone to a place of safety but will be re-erected when it is safe to do so. ... DunBear will be back in Dunbar."

@elcourier reports that I've been "temporarily removed": supposedly for my own protection while a Costa drive-thru is built. But kidnappers always says "it's for his/her protection". It's an outrage! https://t.co/nymDAL7FDi

@Yes_Dunbar @PaulMcLennan7 Any chance of any housing for bears?? I have been stuck out here in the open air behind Asda for almost five years. It gets really chilly in winter, and the really hot sun we have had this summer has made me brown all over!

I hear DunBear Park was sold in the autumn. Does that mean the previous owners sold ME too? Or do I have a special status as a public work of art? Maybe I now come under @ELCouncil

Do come and see me: it's wonderful now here on Bear Hill! The miles of scaffolding fences have been cleared away and some graffiti on my plinth has been removed. So you can now reach me easily and have a wonderful view.

@Gocruiseandstay O for a holiday! I could just fancy a cruise! But I am stuck here permanently on the edge of Dunbar.
However, what about cruise passengers coming to see ME! Am I on the excursion route for any cruise passengers docking at Edinburgh? No need for an arctic cruise to see a bear!
