So many of them follow the "crime control model". I.e. better one innocent man is convicted than nine guilty go free.

And as someone who knows a bit about UK employment law, I think if a club was out of the FA with according restrictions from UEFA and FIFA, a player could reasonably claim "Constructive Dismissal."
Suddenly clubs "player assets" would be zero.
