Killer whales just off Fraserburgh from yesterday during survey work. Great to see them. They were mainly animals from the 27s pod. Hopefully more over the next few weeks 🤞🏻🤞🏻

The pain in this video is just immense. We absolutely broke that club that day. Go home ya Huns go home… and then Zombie nation as they completely implode… Players getting straight jacketed off the pitch…. What a time to be alive 🤣🤣🤣☘️☘️☘️
Here is a recent sequence of a minke #whale feeding that has been matched to an animal in the CRRU catalogue.
The drone footage can provide information on individual feeding behaviour and morphometrics which can be linked up with all the other data sources through IDs
Enjoyed presenting a poster at #ECSconference2024 on recent research I have been working on @CRRU 🐋
Was great to connect with others from around Europe in sunny #Catania and discuss recent research and issues in the field.
Looking forward to the #Azores next year!!
Pleased to have been awarded the St Leonard’s World Leading scholarship for St Andrews University to start a PhD on minke whale movement and habitat ecology using telemetry, ML predictive modelling and more to inform dynamic MPA management! Dream project with the dream team! 🐋
Humpback drone shot from 2022.
Humpbacks are much easier than minkes to track with the drone due to their 2 huge white pectoral fins that often remain visible when the whale dives below the surface.
🤞🏻 for more humpbacks in 2024! 🐋

Big thanks to the LUSH for a large donation - we’re already 1/4 of the way to our target for a new CRRU boat for our life-saving whale and dolphin rescue work as well as research! But we still have a long way to go, so please share and support if you can! https://t.co/aDzhgS0RHz
CRRU are offering training internship places this summer again. These offer the unique opportunity to participate in cetacean research on boat surveys, learn about cetacean ecology and field methods, and meet like-minded people. Find out more here https://t.co/YocEctsSal
A huge thanks to all the grant makers, supporters, volunteers, and friends whose support in 2023 has been overwhelming. It has enabled us to continue to collect vital data, adopt new field methods and publish our scientific work! We wish everybody a very merry Christmas! 🎄🐋
@IanCarter67 Saw this in the west coast of Islay at Machir Bay earlier in the year. Sounds like it’s been seen a few times and that it could be the result of gannets going for fishery-discarded dogfish.
So chuffed to have seen the third largest species of rorqual, the sei whale (Balaenoptera borealis), today from Joppa in Edinburgh and drone it. However, the last couple of sei whales to be seen in the Forth have stranded so fingers crossed that it makes it’s way out safely 🤞🏻
Basking sharks from late September. Look at the size difference between the two 🤩
The larger shark in the video actually had a scar near the caudal fin consistent with fishing gear entanglement - this is a concern for the sharks as well as minke and humpback whales here.
