Powerful quote! This video discusses how it is only by stepping back to gain an understanding of a system that we can hope to address the right issue in the right way & thus make progress: https://t.co/vK1poqWjt4

These are the very people who decide whether we avert climate catastrophe or keep throwing fuel on the crisis and let millions of people die. (pt. 2 in thread)

In the 1990s, Paris was one of the most polluted, traffic-clogged cities in the world.
Today, the city is a world leader in sustainable urban development.
Here's the story of how Paris took back its streets from cars.
Systems innovation is about moving away from linear "solutions" to start to embrace the complexity of the systems behind these "problems" and working to try to change those systems. This video explains what we mean by systems change: https://t.co/dJB5C0vAES

Why does Coca-Cola sponsor research on obesity? Why did BP introduce the personal carbon footprint calculator? In our new working paper, we offer an explanation: emphasizing individual action shifts whom people hold responsible for solving the problem. https://t.co/L5Fu1Y7qsa
George Loewenstein, @NickJChater, Yi-tsen Liao, and I show that people who read about actions individuals (vs. governments) can take are (1) less likely to propose systemic solutions, (2) hold governments less responsible for solving the problem, (3) think systemic reforms are less important, and (4) are less willing to donate to an organization advocating for systemic reforms.
Our findings provide experimental evidence for an issue raised by George & @NickJChater in a recent paper (i-frame vs. s-frame) and by @sosofancy, who sounded the alarm in the finance industry and coined the term "Deadly Distractions."
"Consciously or unconsciously, leaders put in place structures & practices that make sense to them. These correspond to their way of dealing with the world & mean that an organisation cannot evolve beyond it's leadership's stage of development." That's why approaches to transformational change need to start with mindsets & worldviews, rather than changing processes or structures. TY @PaulJocelyn@CelineSchill https://t.co/FF0wb9LmQy
Meta-analysis of meta-analyses of RCTs:
dietary interventions to modify macronutrient composition still irrelevant for weight loss in patients with type 2 diabetes.
No more low-carb vs. low-fat weight loss trials. It’s over. No difference. Move on.
