@Goplombo@BerzekSavant@AngloVarangian We see that too. We have several pieces of literature in place that talk about baptisms and weddings, with their fees. Granted, you should donate to use the grounds and so on but for the culturadox they established what's basically a system of charging for sacraments.
@Goplombo@BerzekSavant@AngloVarangian ...I was able to look them in the eye (multiple people) and say "the converts are paying for the lights to stay on." And it's true. I help count money with pc and it's predominately converts. The ones who "own" the parish? 10% donate.
@Goplombo@BerzekSavant@AngloVarangian DUDE. theres light at the end of the tunnel, then. Our priest neither has nor cares much for kids, and he has a 3 appointment rule that packs the pc with the culturadox. But....
@LatinAcolyte A visiting Lebanese priest told us last year "Augustin isn't a saint in our church," I literally used this church to say that wasnt true even in our jurisdiction and diocese 🤣🙏☦️
Saw a dad in his work clothes having ice cream with his son. Could tell her was tired. That is who our base is supposed to be. Not Wall Street Epstein buddies and chicken hawk war mongers.
@BerzekSavant@AngloVarangian That's exactly the case here. When we get a new priest, I believe the current status quo will flip and the converts who make everything happen will have a louder say.
@BerzekSavant@AngloVarangian I can see what you're point is, but that's not the case here. Many converts and the old ethnic guard have become close and there's a pretty deep understanding of where each group came from. There is a carefully curated dynamic in the PC that favors the culturadox; not the OG.
@jeremyfirth@AppyOrtho Progressivism is the grandchild of the puritans. The Salem Witch Trials were the woke cancel culture of their day, guilt by hysteria, etc. It's not a coincidence the New England churches are now "affirming" and purveyors of progressivism... they always were progressive.
@BerzekSavant@AngloVarangian And, last thing - many, many of the old ethnic folks and families at our parish have been welcoming and warm. It's not a universal problem, but it's a pervasive one.
@BerzekSavant@AngloVarangian 3- then they are told to come back to set up every night of the week after that monday.
"You don't have to show up," you might say, except the young men have been warned that participation is required to enter the church. Not by the PC, but by the priest.
@BerzekSavant@AngloVarangian There's a lot more and hopefully we're an extreme example; more detail and I'd doxx the parish. Fact is, the converts do bring the energy and money, and the old immigrants spend it on whatever they feel is important.
