hi all!! I am a DM and I wanted to get more engaged with the TTRPG community outside of my personal twitter. I’m a lawyer by day, and a DM by night. I’ve always wanted to build a presence with other DMs and now seems like the perfect opportunity!! #dnd#dnd5e#dm
It was rough. I’ve never killed a player like that before. I felt so bad. The guy who played him said that he was okay with it. He never had a character death.
But now he’s making a hex blade paladin. And it seems like it’ll be a great addition to the party.

it’s been a while since I’ve posted here (life has been busy!!) but I had my first player death in my Avernus campaign. It was so hard. I brought him down to 0hp, and no one had any healing spells. I rolled a dice to see if he would be attacked on the ground while down....

and I rolled low enough that he would be attacked while down. He had two death fails at that point. Then came his turn, and he rolled a nat 2. I asked if he wanted to use his inspiration (a d8) and he said yes. He rolled a 4, making his roll a 6 total. He died on the spot.

Voila! He's finished! Try and guess how long he took. #DnD#DnDArtists#dndcharacter
Vafi, the wildmagick archfae, going polymorphs on yo ass for hurting the fae.
All of the above.
Mainly, I modify monsters to fit the storyline (often because I say something in a lore dump and then have to mod the stat block to make it fit the lore)
DMs: how often do you go off-script with monsters or lore to challenge your characters?
Do you do it to add to the story, or to fool them, or to stop meta-gaming?

I’m getting close to 1k followers (that’s absurd, isn’t it?!) and I want to do some sort of fun celebration when I reach that milestone. When I hit 1k, I’ll be tweeting a “raffle” for 5 winners to play in a one-shot with me as DM!! Would anyone be interested in that??

@Pieguy178 It’s super easy to follow!! It’s really different from Strahd, which is pretty much open world. This has a set line of what your players have to do in order to achieve the next milestone and continue the quest. A little railroad-ey but they still have a ton of fun
So I’ve been running my Descent into Avernus campaign for a few months now, and the players just completed the first chapter. Well....things took a bit of a left turn....

@TimRandosaurus The noble was hiding in her underground dungeon, which the party was able to locate when the member disguised himself as her son.
I believe he rolled a 29 deception on this?? And he has shimmer weave clothes so it can transform into whatever clothing they were wearing.
