Some good news to start the new year with! Our #phd student Patrick Pfändler's work on geostatistical #modeling of half-cell potential measurement data has been published #openaccess.

A full house, eagerly listening to Stefanie von Greve-Dierfeld, on the possible changes in EN standards relating to #construction materials, #sustainability and #durability. Performance-based standardisation is the need of the hour to reduce #emissions in the #concrete#industry.
Results indicate that a passive film is formed on steel surfaces under #cathodicprotection. Moreover, the paper revisits the #SHG technique, which hasn’t been used much since the 80s and offers some advantages for the #insitu study of #corrosion occurring in #liquid#electrolytes
New paper in #collaboration with @ong_ethz@rachel_grange, on the use of second-harmonic generation (#SHG) technique for in-situ study of #passive film formation on carbon #steel surfaces in aqueous solutions. https://t.co/NabqcjBdUF
@RILEM1947 TC Update!
New RILEM TC MMS (#Modelling and #experimental validation of #moisture state in bulk #cementitious materials and at the steel-concrete interface) chaired by our group member, Dr. Zhidong Zhang has been officially approved.

Based on data collected over the last 40 yrs, we compared the efficacy of predictive #algorithms with traditional #modelling techniques. Additionally, we were able to identify the most relevant parameters influencing pore solution composition.

We will utilize new quantitative multimodal in-situ tomography to make a breakthrough in the fundamental understanding of iron corrosion processes occurring within opaque #porousmedia. Keep an eye out on this space for more updates, or check out https://t.co/z5rz5246pd
Our PhD student Meeke van Ede presenting her work on Electrochemical Tomography last week at #eurocorr2022, in Berlin. Thanks European Federation of Corrosion (EFC) for organising an amazing event.
