@CoreyClayton@themagic_tophat This has never been primarily about levelling the playing field though, fundamentally the rules were to ensure financial sustainability of Clubs.
@VSljl8@themagic_tophat Not defending anything I’m waiting based on what the Club has publicly stated. The process is not finished, sorry.
As a matter of interest, if exactly the same thing had happened to you, how would be reacting, would you be sticking by your Club or accepting the panel’s decision?
@jameslinton1@MichaelLFC22@BBCMOTD I can’t argue with that. However we just don’t know exactly what City’s challenge will be, or whether they take it to then high Court, or whether both sides look at some kind of settlement. Mostly speculation atm.
@VSljl8@themagic_tophat No-one knows 100% until the process has completely finished, but I totally understand your perspective.
Not trying to deflect, I’m interested in what is your view on Chelsea’s similar rise from the depths? Was that ok just because the rules didn’t exist then?
@themagic_tophat Exactly! So unless you believe the appendices are some sort of delaying tactic, which really isn’t credible, and would only have delayed the inevitable, your analysis on its own without the full context isn’t as compelling on its own as it would appear. Is that fair?
@TheLastLuo Showing a lot of “God is love, God is great” to City fans who are not responsible for the actions of Club owners. Some like me who were there when we were in League One. Kind and compassionate of you pal. Thanks 😉🩵
@NZArsenal88@farrington_1989 Yes, found to be so, by an independent panel against whom City have the right to appeal. It seems to me people can’t wait for the blood-letting until then because they don’t want to believe there could be any other outcome. But let’s see.
@jameslinton1@MichaelLFC22@BBCMOTD If at the end of the process the guilty verdict of the panel isn’t overturned, obviousky City fans will accept whatever punishment the Club gets. Right now none of us know exactly how it will turn out. Unless you have inside info??
@NZArsenal88@farrington_1989 Exactly! So if City could prove the funding came from Etihad or from the Government, you are then left simply with FMV issues which could mitigate, although not absolve, the Club and be relevant to any eventual punishment? Just a question I’m not saying I know!
@SwedishRumble Quick question re your point 2 - is it not the case that the CAS found no evidence that the sponsorship fees were NOT inflated above market rates? So the only issue is if they were related party transactions, not FMV?
@NZArsenal88@farrington_1989 You’ve missed my point. IF (and it’s a big if) it was proved all the money came from Etihad, that immediately negates the sham contract accusation. I’m just using the scenario you described that’s all!
@NZArsenal88@farrington_1989 In your scenario above, that would actually be a major win for City because it would debunk the sham contract accusation. We don’t know how they intend to fight the appeal, but what they have to do is prove the sponsorships were NOT owner funded, that’s all, whichever way.
@CareFreeXtra@WeareManC1ty Im not saying you are wrong about that. However some say huge damage was caused by Chelsea’s massive transfer sprees, and surely you agree without that (legal) cash injection you wouldn’t have won trophies which others would? So was that ok, just because the rules weren’t there?
@Andy_chels@WeareManC1ty Because the rules didn’t exist then!! But Chelsea had the financial advantages of massive cash injections (bigger transfer spend than City) which helped to buy success. What would Roman have done do you think if the roles were reversed?😉
