“The Word of God, very God, wills always and in all things to accomplish the mystery of His embodiment.”
— St Maximus the Confessor, Ambigua 7
@PageauJonathan
When Thou didst submit Thyself unto death, O Thou deathless and immortal One, then thou didst destroy hades with Thy Godly power. And when Thou didst raise the dead from beneath the earth, all the powers of Heaven did cry aloud unto Thee: O Christ Thou giver of life glory to Thee
As the bountiful harvest of Thy sowing of salvation, the lands of North America offer unto Thee, O Lord, all the saints who have shone in them. By their prayers, keep the Church and our land in abiding peace through the Theotokos, O most Merciful One.
(Still ringing in my head)
@PageauJonathan You once invited Alex O’Connor to church. It was enough for me to listen to and has genuinely changed my life for real. Messy business putting yourself out there like that as one runs the risk of looking like a fool. Truly, though, thank you. ☦️
Blessed art Thou, O Christ our God, Who hast revealed the fishermen as most wise, having sent upon them the Holy Spirit, and through them thou hast fished the universe, O Lover of mankind, glory to thee.
So when people are accusing Christ of saying he is the Son of God, his answer is to say, “you will be judges”. Why is that an answer? That makes no sense, and you are also not accounting for why the word “god” is used in multiple ways. You are right about the difference, the creeds make an absolute distinction between the uncreated God and the created gods: angels, principalities, and human judges, kings, saints, but none of this helps your argument in moralizing everyone who simply says there are multiple gods. There are multiple gods, you can’t argue your way around this.
@Darthpatriotth1@VaclavzAmeriky@bannedpastor The Orthodox Faith was established by God because He loves mankind and wants to heal us all. Consider the fact that following Him may cost us everything. Should it? Iunno, sometimes it just does. Isn’t it true that we are not burdened with more than we can carry?
@Darthpatriotth1@VaclavzAmeriky@bannedpastor@VaclavzAmeriky’s point stands that you can’t deal w the argument that the Orthodox Christian faith is the true unchanging religion of the apostles once established by Jesus Christ never to be overcome by the gates of hades and instead you would rather obfuscate.
@Darthpatriotth1@VaclavzAmeriky@bannedpastor 1. The Orthodox Christian faith (not a book) is the true religion of the apostles. Unchanged/unchanging
2. And…?
3. Was free for me. Maybe there is more nuance there than what you might see on the internet. That’s why Orthodox Christians say “come and see”, not follow this link
