@ScribeSynodic Precisely, all they need to be is fun, feel unique to play within their role, and able to clear content. The players can choose to optimize and not.
And I KNOW this can be done because other MMOs can. I just want FFXIV to be up there with them as they have amazing job concepts.
@ScribeSynodic And it'd be one thing if these prunes eliminated meta-chasing parsebrain behavior, but it doesn't, Red Mage, any melee that wasn't Reaper, etc. were all excluded for being "sub-optimal" during Endwalker.
So if it's going to happen either way, why prune the fun, flavorful stuff?
@ScribeSynodic This is the reason things like "Ironman" challenges are so popular in the scene (RuneScape, WoW, bloody Minecraft MMO servers, etc), because it's all about carving your own path and finding a way to make something that isn't in the "META" work.

Finally getting around to reference sheets for my setting! And leave it to me to start with one of the LEAST important characters as far as immediate plot relevance goes. But big space floof needed some love too. Next one will be more immediately relevant I promise XD
Somethin' that's wild to me is how Square Enix, through the use of a single child, successfully gaslit a significant portion of the FFXIV community into thinking the Kobolds were victims.
And to anyone about to argue this: Go the tribe quests, the Kobolds suck, even to their own
Happy Easter 2024 everyone! Workin' away at big art projects, animations, and many amazing things along the way. Until then, have a baby floof on a dragon egg they just decorated a bit.

One of my childhood memories was visiting a friend to play old #DragonBall video games, so the knowledge of Toriyama's passing all these years later came to me as a bit of a shock.
But so long as his art and his stories are shared and remembered, he will never truly be gone.
Third and final (for now) of my little sea life critters.
This one is a bit of a pun as the crab was inspired by real life Coconut Crabs, just with a literal coconut as the shell for him. The snail complements this theme with a shell inspired by wild pineapples.
