The value in College Athletics is in regional pride and friendly tribalism. It's never been about the best players in the world (That's the NFL). This is what ESPN never understood.

You can't curry attention to schools that viewers don't have emotional ties to. If I live in Montana, I don't care that Texas Tech's $50 Million team is playing Oklahoma's $30 Million team. Nobody I work with went there. Nobody I'm seeing over the holidays went there. Neither are as good as the worst NFL team.

It's not interesting and it's not a viable financial model.

To support a transfer QB from Incarnate Word.

A QB with immense talent and relatively little fanfare who wanted to play for his former HC (now the WSU OC). A QB who asked for NIL support to help his sister’s AAU team go to out-of-town tournaments.

So, a group of passionate alums pooled their resources, skills, and knowledge to get it done. Was it clean? No. Was it easy? Definitely not. Was it a necessity? Absolutely.

Without the necessity to support @Cameron7Ward, the Cougar Collective is not what it is today.

So, a heartfelt congratulations is in order for Cam, Calvin, Patrice, and the entire Ward family. You deserve this honor. Coug nation is forever grateful for your contributions and we can’t wait to see how far that Bachelor’s degree from @WSUPullman takes you!

Our only question is, who’s next?
