Have I mentioned that our Intern Teachers are rockstars? Mr. Gomez incorporates relationship-building into his Google Meets seamlessly (and stylishly with bitmojis!) β€οΈ

This weekend I was able to attend the PENning ceremony and graduation for the first of our graduating interns, Mr. Knighton, at Albany State University. We are so proud of you! #CRMS3D#GSCSInternsasTeachers@cowanroad1@GriffinSpalding
Today we celebrated our intern teachers, Mr. Knighton and Mrs. Thompson, who will graduate Saturday and Monday, respectively. We are so proud of all their hard work this semester and their role in our school! #GSCSinternsasteachers#CRMS3D@cowanroad1 @taylortiffn0826
@CoachEMcElroy@GriffinSpalding@GSCSMTSS They are not behaving themselves because they lack the adaptive skills to address the demands/expectations of a stressful situation, and when they become overwhelmed they respond maladaptively.
@CoachEMcElroy@GriffinSpalding@GSCSMTSS The basic premise is that generally kids know what to do and they want to do what they're supposed to, but they are unable to for some reason- lagging skills, skill gaps, lack of coping skills. "Kids do well if they can". Instead of focusing on punishment, we must address these.
@CoachEMcElroy@GriffinSpalding@GSCSMTSS I wouldn't say anyone is "at fault" because there wasn't an intent to disregard Joey's needs, but it still happened. I think they could have reacted differently but didn't know how to.
@CoachEMcElroy@GriffinSpalding@GSCSMTSS I felt like the incident could have been avoided if the teacher had approached the situation differently when Joey said he didn't know what to do. I think everyone is suffering- Joey, his mom, Ms. Woods, the other students- in different ways because their needs aren't being met.
