Yep. The primary tactic at most Protestant / independent Churches in the U.S., over the last 30-40 years, was to make church as seeker-sensitive / comfortable as possible... for women. As a result, we saw the Church in the U.S. first race to be "politically neutral" and then to the political left. Protestant self-identification in the U.S. collapsed in this same period, but that collapse did not lead to a change in tactics.
It's difficult to hollow yourself out and then to convince the new thing you filled yourself with to do what you want.
