Marner always loved using the media to drop those ridiculous threats during negotiations, that sob story Mark Masters fell for last summer, the "dark times" comments a week ago but when its time to speak after 1 assist, -5 in games 4-6 he threw ninja dust, as usual.🥷✨
Ahhh so you can do an interview after leaving a team you’ve spent your whole career with and not shit on the fans who treated him “like a god” and the city of Toronto like Marner has done for a year
Nik Ehlers being an ultimate professionals, has nothing but love for his former team. Meanwhile that fucking loser Mitch had a whole speech planned to shit on Toronto but ONLY if they won the cup.
Winning the draft lottery, hiring Mats Sundin, firing Craig Berube, Vegas losing in the Stanley Cup Finals and the Toronto Marlies winning the Calder Cup would make up for a horrendous Maple Leafs season.
What a way to end the hockey season.
Here’s the thing about Toronto: If the Maple Leafs had bowed out of the playoffs playing as badly as the Canadiens did in their last three games, the Leafs would be hearing it til October. The Habs? They were just out of gas and beaten by a better team.
After watching that press conference it’s genuinely pathetic how a lot of the “journalists” there were more interested in asking gotcha insult questions instead of the direction of the team and plans for the offseason
On Steve Simmons...
I have no issue with the premise of his question, asked cordially.
For example:
"Based on my research, it seems John Chayka's a polarizing figure around the league. In fact, most of the people I talked to were surprised by your decision to hire him. Can you elaborate on your due diligence process and share your perspective on the incidents which led to punishment from the league?"
I mean, that's a heater as written.
I have an issue with calling John Chayka a liar and a con man, as corroborated by 19 of 20 anonymous sources.
I have an issue with an experienced journalist hijacking the press conference, turning it into a spectacle about an uncommonly explosive question. Especially in this setting. I think it's a disservice to the staff and the fan base.
The biggest issue I have, though, is that he directed the question to Keith Pelley. John Chayka is sitting right next to him. If you want to call the guy a liar and a con man, at least have the courtesy to say it to him directly.
The problem is... it's a lot like when a Karen starts an argument with an employee at a Best Buy. Karen has no obligation to conduct herself in any particular way - she's free to fly off the handle. The employees are wearing a uniform. There are customers in the store. They don't have the same luxury. It's a gutless exchange.
Par for the course from Steve Simmons.
@BizNasty2point0 I see that John Chayka was born in Jordan Station which is close to Welland…Can you confirm people from Jordan Station are good people and he is capable of bringing the Maple Leafs a Cup???
They really ended the most hyped baseball game of all time on a strike call 6 inches below the zone. Play that on loop for the clowns who hate ABS. That is an embarrassment

My post draft tweet here on the 18 year old Owen Sound Attack forward looks like it’s aging very very well.
