People sometimes ask me: is there really any retail demand for pre-IPO stocks? 🤔

One case study I like to point to is $DXYZ (Destiny Tech100), a publicly-traded fund holding pre-IPO companies (1/3rd in SpaceX).

It currently trades at 10x (!!) its underlying fair market value (previously up to 20x).

Why? Because it’s one of the only ways that regular retail investors can gain exposure to top pre-IPO companies, and they’re clearly willing to pay an enormous premium for that access. 💸

But access to private markets - where most outsized wealth is generated - should be a right, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy and well-connected. It’s unfair that the most exciting deals help the rich get richer while everyday investors are left out (or forced to pay a huge premium). 💢
