I've returned several times to the strange social question, "Why are Americans so angry at the idea that child sex trafficking - particularly by large organizations and by kidnapping American kids - is not as common as people suggest?" Because they are, this comes up every
@storyofndblake @Ahab_Of_Gilead @BarnaGroup I’d argue the Barna research is perhaps phrased in ways that don’t reflect the ways people expressed them in an effort to soften the blow to the target audience. The research was also published prior to 2016 which was arguably a watershed moment for evangelicals
Exactly! Like if it’s SO easy why the fuck ain’t you doing it Richard? If you’d take off those Fauxkleys and look at something other than your phone as you take selfies in your truck, you’d see how goddamn stupid you look.
@HeidiNCloset Do I think the line of thought was “I’m gonna do blackface”? No. Did it look like it? Unquestionably yes. At some point did the thought of “someone might think…” occur? Probably. And yet here we are.
@PastorTrey05 It’s a great spoof of Star Trek where actual aliens intercept episodes of the show and misunderstand the genre as history and the actors get taken into actual space where mayhem ensues. I thought it was great parallel to the way many treat some biblical texts.
Raise your hand if you’re shocked. Now take that hand, smack yourself, and wake the fuck up. These fuckers have been replacing Jesus with cheeto hitler for a while. KDM has been saying this.
“Multiple pastors tell me, essentially, the same story about quoting the Sermon on the Mount, parenthetically, in their preaching — 'turn the other cheek' — [and] to have someone come up after to say, 'Where did you get those liberal talking points?'" Moore revealed.”
@heymrsbond My wife does this with cream cheese lol! At one point we had no less than four double packs of cream cheese. We do not eat that much cream cheese EVER. Lol!
Guys you have no idea about the scripts I read. It’s my job. Heartbreaking dramas. Wildly funny comedies. Groundbreaking sci fi. Diverse voices. Amazing love stories. Biopics of fascinating people I’ve never heard of.
Almost none of them get made.
It’s not the writers.
@sohelpmejesseca First of all…that handle…second of all…ain’t nobody tryna paint you bro…stop bumrushing canvases and you might end up not covered in paint.
@katyabatischeva Honestly, that makes me really happy for you. To be able to appreciate the wonderful things about Christianity without baggage of the awful ways people use Christianity would be a dream. As long as nobody gets hurt I’m all about it.
@DavidtheBookwrm I learned feminism is not a monolith. There are many feminism(s) with many intersections. We can’t conflate every feminist idea as part of a singular project. Are there fem-supremacists? Sure. But that doesn’t represent the whole or even the majority.
@Keen_KR Kathy Baldock and CanyonWalker Connections has long been a fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ Christians and I get the sense that she’s firmly evangelical and charismatic.
@heymrsbond That said, I was a white boy in a fairly average working class household and every child has individual readiness and each context is unique. You are the person best positioned to make that decision with your child :)
@heymrsbond I had just turned 6 getting on the bus for Kindergarten. I remember it being a little scary for the first few trips but it became very normal within a week or so. We had a whole bus orientation the first week and that helped me feel more confident. This was also in NW GA.
