Deanna and I were arguing over whether it's おひや or おみず when asking for water at a restaurant, so now I've been listening to what servers use.
And.
It's maybe regional?
I've never heard おみず in Tokyo but I just ordered おひや in Nara and it was named おみず upon delivery.

In Vanilla the lore was... if not entirely sensical, then at least unspecified enough that you could fill in the gaps with reasonable guesses.
Then they let a bunch of hack authors hack at it and OOPS.
