The exact moment when this radar scan indicated when the Harlan, IA tornado was capable of having EF5 level wind speeds. At this point, the tornado was clearly rotating at its most rapid pace and the sub vortexes spinning inside were unlike anything I had ever seen before. I never thought I would say this, but whether or not it caused EF5 damage, this is the first time I have ever seen a tornado capable (to my knowledge) of being an EF5.

I’m still trying to comprehend how this was real.

Multiple vortices dancing around each other, creating by far the largest #tornado I’ve ever witnessed. So many things I had only seen in other people’s videos or read about in research papers, I was finally able to witness with my own eyes.

And despite the property damage, no one was severely injured by this behemoth. Unbelievable.
