1 Cor 15:58a Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
@CopyWhoTV @sovereignbrah I would state that God created Adam and Eve as adults. Why then do we have such a hard time believing that he also created the earth with age? He created the Trees fully mature and fruit bearing. Adam and Eve didn't have to wait years to eat their first apple.
@skanks17 You can't have it both ways, either Trump comes in with National guard to quell the insurrection, or Newscum does it with local and state LEO. You want to blame Trump but complain about how he fixes it. Crazy.
This is not abnormal, babies have a reflex to hold their breath that can be developed with training. The first step is to blow air into the child's face then swiftly dunk them under water. This technique has been used for generations to teach young children to hold their breath and prevent them from drowning if they fall in deep water .
@YoDanno@braidedhide I always liked Caramon. Everyone assumed he was stupid, but he has a lot of depth and compassion. I think it's telling that he survives and has many happy years with Tika raising children. Caramon was not only a hero, but he trained and raised a whole new generation of heroes.
I think some of the rules are vague. And not in an intentional way. For example does the barbarian rage bonus apply to a graze from a great sword, or do you have to land an unarmed attack against a target's AC before you can attempt a grapple? Overall I think they fixed a lot of things but they created several new issues that could have been resolved if the language was more clear or not directly contradictory. I have DM'd both rulesets over the last year and ultimately I think the 2024 rules fix more than they brake.
I think those rules came about with the advent of playing with strangers. Rather than safe spaces and x cards, DMs need to just do better session zero and screening for crazies. D&D isn't your therapy session for your personal brand of crazy. It's a game to enjoy with friends. So stop bringing your baggage and we won't need rules to keep people from being inappropriate.
Yeah it definitely takes getting used to. More an art than a science. The new system is based off experience the monster is worth and you have a pool per encounter to determine if the encounter will be hard medium or easy. I always err on the high side as my players tend to bring the thunder, so to speak. But ultimately the idea of encounter design is busted in D&D because of the short and long rest systems. If you had to conserve more and it took longer to recover, the encounter system in 2014 would probably have worked. Problem is players go nova on any encounter they can till gassed. It takes training to get them to be conservative.
@AngryGamesInc Yeah I get it, I just meant Combat can be a slog and some people get board when other are crunching numbers. So we do what we must to keep turns under 2 min mark and try not to deliberate rules during combat unless it is a life and death decision.
Yeah CR can be a pain in 5e, but I am happy to report the 2024 rules for creating encounters work better. Especially with the updated monsters. For my games things like magic items are not really sold, they are found and If they were sold they would be subjective prices according to demand and region. ๐
I agree that using advantage or disadvantage in every situation lacks nuance, but it also save time at the table. So I think it depends on the game your table likes to run. At my table we like to keep things moving fast and loose, and combat is my own personal challenge with 5e for that, which is why I often employ the "increase damage, decrease HP" method on my monsters to speed things up. Everything is modifiable to taste, and so I agree with what you're saying about preferred tool sets.
The problem with the change is the diminishing returns. It is too punishing on the caster of Counterspell. If they succeed and counter an enemy spell, the enemy loses nothing but time. If they fail to counter the spell they lose a spell slot and are hit by the spell. I have a problem with the offensive caster not losing his slot when countered. Either both lose a slot on a failure or neither do. Especially since it is much easier to save against Counterspell now as they removed it's auto kill on 3rd level or lower spells and you just have to make a constitution saving throws. (Which there are a multitude of feats to help you succeed at).
@GaryD20Games I force characters to doff armor if they want the benefit of a long rest. It's a great time to ambush with low level monsters that seem easy until they remember their AC is 12!!!
