@Noirchick1@jeffsabbagh1 You'd be in for a real treat. I saw Night of the Hunter on the big screen several years ago (the @FilmForumNYC had short block of Lillian Gish films). It was even more surreal than I remembered.
@LISAGNO IIRC, Bennett was in her 30s when she did "Woman In The Window" etc.. Maybe she felt that she had "aged" out of those roles by the late 1940s. Her next big film was "Father of The Bride" (IIRC) as the mother (again).
What makes #TheRecklessMoment such an affecting movie - for me - is how Bennett's character multi-tasks: dealing with the blackmail issue on one hand and dealing with the normal day-to-day household issues on the other.

I recall laughing at this scene of Bennett going through her expense book and seeing where she could save enough money. We've all been there.

"You're quite the prisoner aren't you?"
Note how Mason is starting to express empathy for Mrs. Harper's situation. (perhaps more so than the other people around her).

@analgesicsleep IIRC, the remake changes the child's gender (to the son) and the sexual nature of the relationship. I haven't seen it, but probably should at some point.
@LISAGNO My pleasure. Bennett's performance in this film was used in a NPR discussion about Eddie Muller's book "Dark City Dames" last year. I was eager to see it and it did not dissapoint.
This is one of Joan Bennett's best roles. #TheRecklessMoment is a kind of film-noir/women's picture hybrid IMO. The performances are outstanding.
