Good morning, from Canada.
This rainbow was a spectacular double arch, uncannily bright, but what I love best was how the rainbow's end silhouetted our rippling flag. The Maple Leaf, Forever.
An amazing weekend
In Victoria! 9 degrees Celsius, bright, and no rain or wind. It was an amazing view from Mt. Doug! So grateful to able to be so active outside! And… Mt. Washington opened with 6 feet of snow, -2, and sunny! Wow!
Island Ukulele played at a retirement home. They played great and always love ending an evening with carols! The audience was pleased@with the performance! Thank you Tina H and the Island Ukulele team.
Winter Puzzle Number 2! The family went to town and finished this in 4 days. It’s 1000 pieces and the kids did pieces between commitments! On to number 3!
Christmas tree is up and the house smells good! The family has also completed our first of many 1000 piece puzzles! I know the season is busy with concerts, tournaments, and other commitments but I do like the 10min time out to add 5 pieces a day to a puzzle!
I have a standing desk for health reasons but also so that I don’t settle there and get out of the office and into my community. The many positive interactions and connections are good for students, staff, the school community and me!
If you make decisions that impact staff and students, you need to be actively present in those classrooms.
I thought about all of this in conversation with @AllysonApsey on the “relationship builder” pillar from #WhatMakesAGreatPrincipal. She shared how important it was to be in spaces to learn and serve those you are supporting. She wrote the following in the book:
“Remarkably, every time I was away from my office and out and about in the school, I was at the right place at the right time. I better understood the strengths and challenges that staff members and students were encountering. I was able to promote teacher leadership on the spot by connecting teachers to share their strengths with each other.” @AllysonApsey
