TIL that in 1803, a mob led by Col. Harrison and his regiment attempted to 'tar and feather' an ill future-President Andrew Jackson. Instead of hiding, Jackson threw his door wide open and dared Harrison to lead his men and not follow them. The mob dissolved.
The other day he drank so many beers at this bar that his card declined and I had to pay his outstanding bill of 75 dollars. I didn't want the bartender to have to cover it as he's my friend too, so I sort of spotted them both.
