The #AstronomicalSocietyofMalta strongly opposes the introduction of any lighting, of any kind or in any capacity, in or at #Dwejra. The government’s “Protection” law is a betrayal of Dwejra’s status as the last true dark site in the Maltese Islands. Object by 3rd March 2026
Grazzi ħafna!
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for your continued interest, likes/shares, positive comments, and for visiting the tower over the last few months. It is very much appreciated 🙂 @RobertaMetsola@MalteseTenor
Delighted to host a guided tour for a group of visitors last Saturday as part of a wide range of activities showcasing the natural beauty and rich heritage of #Dwejra with #savingourblue#dinlarthelwa https://t.co/FUPpwKYtqi @RobertaMetsola@maltese
It's hot out there...but always cool at #DwejraTower
We don't have air conditioning (it's not something they thought about back in 1652), but with 3.5-metre-thick walls, this knights-era coastal watchtower is always cooler inside. @RobertaMetsola@MalteseTenor@VisitGozo
With its dramatic natural landscape, coastal scenery, and unique geological features, #Gozo has inspired artists, writers, filmmakers, and musicians, including the track 'Dwejra' recorded and performed by popular Maltese world music/roots band #Tribali

Our Plant of the Month for June is the edible Caper (capparis orientalis). Known as 'kappara' in Maltese. The distinctive white flowers, with numerous large violet stamens, can be seen in summer growing mainly on cliffs, old rubble walls and garigue @RobertaMetsola@MalteseTenor
Listening to the evening calls of Scopoli's Shearwaters is the best nature spectacle of a Maltese summer & Dwejra, Gozo is a perfect spot for it. Being a Dark Sky Heritage Area, it is also one of the few places to enjoy a starry night sky. https://t.co/7gxNJBqTYd
Heritage Saved. In May 2023, the Grand Master Lascaris coastal watchtower re-opened after restoration works, as part of ‘The Northern Coastal Watch’ initiative through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF.05.101) and the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA). @RobertaMetsola
Our Plant of the Month - Sea Carrot (Daucus gingidium) 'Zunnarija tal-Bahar' in Maltese. Frequently found growing on coastal cliffs of the Maltese Islands and inland up to 300m away from the shore. The plant flowers in early Summer & is attractive to many pollinating insects.
