As someone in the Central Valley, don’t get me started on the Air Resource Board. This state mandates ridiculous standards, with penalties for not meeting them, and then expects us to roll over when they are derelict in their duties that cause wildfires and make the air even worse.

USA. They sell food here in the sizes of war. A single jar of mayonnaise as large as my helmet. I bought two. One must always keep a reserve.

I entered a hall so vast it had weather. Shelves to the heavens. And upon them, no small things. No humble portions. Everything sized as if for a siege.

A bag of rice I could not lift alone. A tower of paper as tall as a child. Forty-eight of one thing, ninety of another, a vat of oil that could float a boat. And the people pushed carts the size of carriages, loading them as if the snows were coming and would not leave for years.

I understood at once, and I was moved to my core.

For it is written that a house is judged not in its feasting but in its famine — by whether, when the long winter comes, it can feed its own without bowing to any lord. This nation does not shop. This nation provisions. Every family a fortress, stocked to outlast a siege that is not coming, has never come, and against which they remain magnificently, gloriously prepared.

So I provisioned. I filled a carriage-cart to the brim. Rice for a regiment. The helmet of mayonnaise, and its reserve. Enough paper to write the history of the world. Twice.

And here my heart rose, and I declared the thing a calmer man would not:

"Let the hardest winter in a thousand years descend. Let the roads vanish and the rivers freeze. I will not so much as rise from my chair — for I hold, in my garage, mayonnaise enough to outlast the apocalypse, and a man with that much mayonnaise fears no season, no army, and no god."

The woman checking receipts at the door studied my cart a long moment.

Then she smiled. "Big family?"

"Not yet," I told her, honestly.

I took my provisions home. And because no winter came — none ever does — I did the only honorable thing a man can do with a fortress full of food.

I fed the whole street.

We ate for a week. The mayonnaise held.

So tell me, America.

You call it buying in bulk. A Costco run. A little too much, as usual.

I call it every household quietly ready to survive the end of the world —

and then, when the world stubbornly refuses to end,

throwing a feast instead.

Tucker’s war on evangelical Christian conservatives, with Israel as the galvanizing issue it’s not about evangelical Christian conservatives, and it is not about Israel. In the words of @ConceptualJames the thing is never about the thing, it’s always about the revolution.

Destroying the evangelical coalition isn’t the end goal. It’s the means.

The real goal is to fracture the mainstream American right the same way the Obama administration fractured the mainstream American left.

Think about what happened to the Democratic Party. Before Obama, there was still a recognizable center-left. Labor Democrats, classical liberals who believed in free speech and constitutional norms.

Obama’s coalition strategically radicalized that base, pulled it apart, and what emerged on the other side was a left that has marched steadily toward authoritarianism and total communism. The center-left firewall collapsed, and the radicals walked right through it.

Tucker is running the same playbook on the right. Israel is the wedge, the scapegoat issue being used to galvanize people, radicalize them, and shift their theology and political identity. Evangelicals are the target because they’re the largest, most unified, most reliable voting bloc on the right.

They are the firewall. The normal conservatives who believe in the Constitution, limited government, and ordered liberty. That’s what’s being dismantled.

Once that firewall falls, the American right gets pulled into a nationalist authoritarian model. And people should remember that authoritarianism on the right doesn’t have to mean free-market capitalism.

The Nazis were a socialist party. A national authoritarian movement will absolutely go collectivist and economically radical.

So here’s where we end up. The mainstream left has already collapsed into authoritarianism.

If the mainstream right collapses too, you don’t get a debate anymore.

You get a street fight between two authoritarian factions.

Communist authoritarians on one side, nationalist authoritarians on the other. And it genuinely doesn’t matter which one wins.

Because if either faction takes power, every American who actually believes in the Constitution loses.

Every Protestant, Catholic, evangelical, Orthodox Christian, Jew, and every law-abiding Muslim American who loves this country.

Everyone who wants the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness the Constitution promises will suffer equally under the boot of whichever authoritarian faction comes out on top.

And that is exactly why this is everybody’s fight.

The division is being manufactured on purpose. Protestants split from Catholics. Jews split from Christians. Evangelicals isolated from the rest of the right.

Once the firewall goes, it’s open season on everyone else.

What Tucker is doing to the Republican Party has already been done to the Democratic Party, and we have all seen the result. It is very, very bad.

People need to realize they are being used. They are being weaponized for a fight they never signed up for, by people who do not have their interests at heart.

This is the moment to exercise some discernment, recognize the playbook for what it is, and wake up. Respectfully.

Because the firewall isn’t just protecting evangelicals. It’s the last thing protecting the Constitution itself. And once it falls, it falls for all of us.

Shakespeare doesn’t teach “skills.” He reveals ambition, lust, betrayal, guilt, and the cost of sin. Homer teaches courage and honor. Augustine exposes the restless heart. Dante shows that loves can be ordered rightly or twisted into ruin. These books give students a map of the soul.

Our greatest enemy is a culture training kids to be bored by silence and incapable of deep thought.

Dude, there was a farm 30 minutes from me in Fresno that you could pick your own stone fruit (peaches & plums), grapes, and others row crops like tomatoes and eggplant for the pittance of 65¢ a pound. I canned and packed so much amazing fruit during the three or so years they were open.
