🇪🇹 Tigst Assefa, the former world record holder in the marathon, is aiming to reclaim her world record at the 2026 BMW Berlin Marathon, taking place September 26.
Assefa, who broke the world marathon record in 2023 in 2:11:53, is targeting the current record of 2:09:56 set by 🇰🇪 Ruth Chepngetich at the 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
🗣️ Assefa said the following statement in the Berlin Marathon release:
“It's with immense pleasure, that three years after my world record in 2023, I will be running again on the streets of Berlin and trying again to break the world record.
I thank the organizers for inviting me one more time and everyone involved for their support during the marathon days, and I hope to see many spectators cheering me on."
Assefa has won the BMW Berlin Marathon twice, including running her world record 2:11:53 at the 2023 race.

#NBNationals week is back…and so is Katy Zang! 👸
The NBNI super star is heading to Philly this weekend for NBNO and hopes for a repeat of what happened during the indoor season.
While she has sat out majority of the outdoor season due to a stress fracture, Zang has been cleared to race, saying she’s ready to rise to the occasion and is determined to have another historic weekend.

Reliving those USC days 🥹✌
Former Trojans 🇺🇸 Anna Cockrell and 🇺🇸 Dalilah Muhammad complete the USATF LA Grand Prix going 1-2 in the women's 400m hurdles.
Cockrell lowered her own meet record to 53.43 in the win and Muhammad ran 53.65.

Trailing his Brooks Beasts teammate 🇬🇧 Josh Kerr heading into the final 100m, 🇺🇸 Brandon Miller unleashes a monster kick and wins the men's 800m in a season's best 1:43.94.
Kerr, gearing up for his world record mile attempt, finished fourth in 1:45.46.
