There are a number of articles I want to read, just to get the gist of what they saying, and the angle / agenda chosen.
Unfortunately I have cancelled my subscription to many of these rags out of principle.
One principle only: A complete intolerance for blatant hypocrisy.
I often get irritated with myself for doing this, but then I remember who they are, and what they doing, and although frustrating, I would still not give 1c of my hard-earned dosh to those who actively and strategically perpetuate prejudice under the guise of journalism.
🇿🇦When will our politicians (shame) grow up beyond their pitiful, school-playground level infighting and party-first, blinkered loyalty - to focus instead on the business of government and the economic resilience of our country, its municipalities and people?!🇿🇦
Maybe I missed something but I’m not understanding the furore about the DA reshuffle. Nobody is usurping the powers of the President - the President is leading a multi-party government and the parties in that govt are entitled to recall their deployees or reconfigure their caucus within the portfolios under their control. Surely this can’t be a shocker?
I’m actually surprised it took so long post conference.
(Sidenote: If the gwazists were in government you know this would’ve been a quarterly occurrence🙃).
A mere mayor is making demands from the City Hall in Cape Town. He is requesting changes within cabinet , essentially taking away powers granted by the constitution to a president.
The DA “brains trust” tells us this website isn’t real life and that it’s a small minority of people who were unhappy with the behaviour of their Minister of Agriculture.
Odd that they then decided to do exactly what us nobodies had called for.
Most people don't understand the difference between having billions in the bank, liquid, & having ownership shares in companies worth billions. And I think it would behoove the media to explain this once in a while.
The SA Constitution says the Government is based on the ‘will of the people’
This is not true. We, the people, have not elected our representatives in Govt. They were selected and appointed by Parties.
That is certainly not the will of the people. It is time to correct this.
We as ActionSA note your admission that the comment was in bad taste, it was. What is of concern is that it took so long to address this matter especially as it was trending on social media and raised by myself in the portfolio committee. This comment wasn’t from just any ministry staff member but your adviser/chief of staff and unfortunately reflects very poorly on yourself as well.
I know you’re a DA guy and that’s all good, nobody’s perfect - but jumping to the defense of Commie Coetzee is probably unwise.
Is or isn’t there proposed land expropriation as claimed?
If there is then how is this defensible? If there isn’t then what is being objected to?
As to the statement:
- “You can’t complain about property prices being too high and also object to new housing developments” - Actually you can. And who is complaining about property prices being high? Certainly not property owners. The complaint is actually that the City uses high property prices (private investments) as an excuse to continuously increase taxes for the same or lesser services.
“You cannot want better public transport and also object to densification” - Actually you can. Firstly where have the residents of this area asked for more public transport? Most have their own transport. Secondly why must public transport and densification go together? If the only way to make public transport feasible is to place people into ever shrinking land areas then perhaps it’s just not viable.
“You cannot want a city that attracts investment and also object to urbanisation.” - Actually you can. Hundreds of cities around the world attract investment and don’t convert their green spaces into low/medium cost housing.
See, Ryan is very sure of himself but he’s so often wrong that despite trying he can no longer get employment outside of South Africa. Even the global Left with which he aligns won’t employ him, and yet the DA thinks he will somehow lead them to a different place than where he took the Lib Dems/Remain in the UK or his astroturfed communist campaign in Hong Kong (https://t.co/5w0M2P3G3r).
Nobody in the DA needs to defend an open leftist who believes in everything from the trans agenda to climate change hysteria. Just because a small elite group still decides which way to steer the party does not mean anyone should prostrate themselves at the feet of a failure and enemy of liberalism itself.
Today I walked away from @jacarandafm
How do you justify interviewing Mel Viljoen?
They are not 'celebrities' as you call them. They hate SA & are blatantly racist, in their own words and videos.
Could you not find ANYONE else?
We should build relations in SA,not destroy it.
