@RyanPatrick1991 @grok what is the real reason Trump leads like a bull in a China shop? Are we, Americans, the China, or is it more complicated than that?
The above is the “tzero” built by AC propulsion. 0-60mph in 3.6s, and a purported 300 mile range. Musk met Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpening in 2004 after driving a tzero, and decided to invest in the company Martin and Marc had formed in 2003 (Tesla Motors). At the time of their meeting, Tesla Motors had not produced a functional prototype because they did not have the funding.
So, Musk’s claim here is accurate, and is only muddied by the fact that the tzero DID exist, as did the company ‘Tesla Motors’. The tzero was in effect a prototype of the future ‘Mule’ (which used a Lotus chassis and AC Propulsion motor) that the Tesla founders (Musk being one of them) would go one to build. However, the tzero was NOT built by Tesla Motors.
Backstory: The tzero had lithium ion batteries (and blew Musk’s receding hairline back when he test drove it) because Martin had invested $150k in AC Propulsion in 2003 after convincing Tom Gage (AC Propulsion President/CEO) that lithium batteries were the key to a winning electric vehicle. However, AC Propulsion did not step up to the plate to try and commercialize the sporty prototype, and had instead set their sights on making a boxier, lower cost electric vehicle. Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpening started Tesla Motors because they believed a sports car was the right flagship product for a successful startup EV manufacturer. Musk also believed this, which is why he went into business with them.
The Tesla Founders that built the ‘Mule’ and their titles at the time were:
Martin Eberhard - CEO
Marc Tarpening - President
JB Straubel - Chief Technology Officer
Ian Wright - Chief Operating Officer
Elon Musk - Chair of the board and primary funder

This information is detailed in Chapter 20 of Walter Isaacson’s biography, “Elon Musk”.
@elonmusk Does this post mean Musk is considering scaling up manufacturing of exotic quantum processing units?
Probably not. More likely it’s just a good example of Grok 3’s explainer skillz.
@Squil_Mama The video creator was most likely rage baiting for engagement. Not a bad strategy if so… it got shared.
Hard to imagine why someone would post this content otherwise.

At least he’s not afraid of saying the quiet part out loud.
Love the idea of making it easier to eat healthy. At some point when delivery fees drop far enough (when robots take those jobs) having a healthy recipes section on instacart would be a great feature. Seems like a killer addition to that app actually… an AI agent that manages your shopping list and meal plans to make sure you hit some optimum between being tasty, cheap, and highly nutritious.
