I didn’t expect this at all!

Really chuffed to have won Student Journalist of the Year…. It was a massive leap into journalism for me, financially and personally, but I just wanted to represent people like my autistic brother who I felt didn’t have enough of a voice.

I used to get this all the time. Then people meet my sister and realize how silly it is to think that Autism is a tragedy.

It may seem pedantic but these clarifications need to be made to make sure people know correct information. At this point it almost seems intentional.

Simple instructions that make important information more accessible.

•use simple sentences
•use short words instead of long ones
•leave out unnecessary words
•use everyday words not technical terms where possible
•if you have to use a technical term explain it in plain language
•break long sentences into several short sentences
