‘Crash 2’ Already Making Waves… Chenle and #JISUNG Sweep the Charts

First Duet OST, ‘Smash It,’ Tops iTunes Charts Across Southeast Asia

The first OST for ENA’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Crash 2: Fury Road’, ‘Smash It’, was released at 6PM on October 22. The song was released more than three weeks before the drama’s premiere.

The singers are NCT Chenle and Jisung.

As soon as the song was released, it shot to the top of iTunes charts across Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Even before the drama begins airing, its theme song is already showing its power on international charts.

‘Smash It’ is the first duet OST recorded by the two singers, who are known as the ‘Chenji combo/duo’, since their debut. The song features a heavy bassline and powerful electronic sounds, bringing the excitement and intensity of the drama’s chase scenes to life. It has a runtime of 2 minutes and 38 seconds, with Yang Donghwa, TEY, and others participating in its songwriting and composition.

The song also stands out because the singers and their characters are closely connected. Jisung plays Ji Daese, a rookie police officer who is known as an “idol” in the Traffic Division of Namgang Police Station. He joins the Traffic Crime Investigation Team (TCI), which he has always looked up to, bringing fresh energy to the team as its youngest member. With an actor from the drama singing its theme song, the track also serves as an introduction to his character.

The music video released alongside the song features more spectacular car chases than Season 1 and action scenes from the TCI team, whose strength has grown with Jisung’s addition. It offers an early glimpse of the drama’s atmosphere and scale.

There are hopes that the fandom’s support will translate into viewership ratings. On October 21, the day before the song’s release, Jisung Global’s fan account launched a campaign aiming for “#1 on iTunes.” By the morning of October 22, Thailand had already surpassed its target. iTunes charts are sensitive to concentrated purchases, making them an indicator of how strongly a fandom can come together to support a release.

‘Crash 2’ returns after two years. The drama follows the TCI team at Namgang Police Station as it expands into a nationwide investigative unit under the National Office of Investigation, taking on intelligent traffic-related crimes across the country. Season 1 cast members Lee Minki, Kwak Sunyoung, Heo Sungtae, Lee Hocheol, and Moon Hee return, with Jisung joining the cast.

The drama is directed by Park Joonwoo, written by Oh Soojin, planned by KT Studio Genie, and produced by ASTORY. It will premiere on ENA on November 16 at 10PM (KST) and will also be available on Genie TV and Disney+.
