History, Class and Tradition
We sold our spiritual home in Highbury; sold our best players; handicapped our greatest ever manager; All to compete at the highest level in the premier league.
Manchester City saw the same rules, in the same league, and decided to cheat.
Tear Man City limb by limb
The thing that makes this even more confusing, is my problem after the incident wasn't even with the referee. He got conned by Ballard and in real time it's easy to make a mistake, as he did - and as the KMI have unanimously noted.
That's when he needs VAR to bail him out and correct the decision. So to then say VAR shouldn't get involved is so baffling.
What is the point of it then? Surely an incident like this is the exact reason it's been introduced?
30 years on from a monumental day in @Arsenal's history ❤️
On this day in 1996, Arsène Wenger was announced as Arsenal manager. He went on to become the most successful manager in FA Cup history with seven titles to his name 🏆
Some Arsenal fans need to ask themselves why they follow the club.
If you can be so fucking miserable after one defeat, so soon after winning the League, and going on a long win streak…
Genuinely, why bother? If it takes years to find joy and one day to go back to misery?
The Key Match Incidents Panel voted 5-0 that the the decision not to send Gabriel off against Chelsea was the correct one.
"The panel unanimously supported the referee's call of no red card. Multiple players were on the ground competing and challenging for the loose ball, and the action of Gabriel was not deemed to be an act of violent conduct or serious foul play."
Crazy that we go through this back and forth about how hard officiating is and nothing serious gets done... then Pierluigi Collina runs the World Cup. He implements new rules, tech integrations that work, and makes sure the refs are not the star of the show... and it's so much better than anything the Premier League is capable of... why?
Simple question. All this money spent on transfers and none of the clubs push for better reffing standards? So odd.
The biggest story in officiating in England this year is that Mike Dean would run games and not blow the whistle for extended periods of time just for fun. That sort of thinker was allowed to be the top dog for YEARS and no one stepped in.
We can all see what has been happening with refs hasn't been right. They've had cover from media who make it a tone issue, or call fans conspiracists... only for the offenders to show up on podcasts or at after-parties and snitch on themselves.
I want to know the state of play NOW. Why is it so bad? How does disciplinary action work? Why are the same offenders allowed to stay? Where are the audits? Why isn't there an independent panel to review their training? Where are the innovations? Why doesn't the league create a new professional body and hire the best from around the world? ProRef or whatever they are called is just a contractor. How do they keep getting renewed?
Just maddening. United had points stolen today. But hey, at least they got an apology. More than Arsenal got.
Taking a moment to talk about John Brooks.
Oh my word that was one of the worst officiating performances I've seen. #SUN vs #AFC
He made that game all about him.
- Konsa pen call. Subjective but arguably not a penalty
- Gabriel yellow card for attempting to calm things down
- Havertz yellow card for what?
- Xhaka yellow card for a clean tackle
- Ballard yellow card for dissent
- Arteta yellow card for barely leaving the technical area
- If the Konsa challenge is a penalty, why was the one on Calafiori in the first half not given?
So many more. Genuinely was pulling my hair out.

The Premier League asked Man City for documents. City resisted. An arbitration panel ruled they had to provide them. City then went to the High Court trying to overturn it and remove the arbitrators. They lost. That’s how hard they fought the investigation process.
🚨 Pep Guardiola on Mikel Arteta being nominated for the 2026 Ballon d’Or Men’s Coach of the Year award:
🗣️“I have huge respect for every nominated coach — Luis de la Fuente, Luis Enrique, Unai Emery and Vincent Kompany. They have all done incredible work and deserve recognition.
“But we have to be honest. If I had to vote, I would vote for Mikel Arteta.
“Look at what he has done with Arsenal. He transformed them from a team fighting to compete into genuine title challengers and then led them to the Premier League title last season.
“They went unbeaten in the Champions League and only lost the final on penalties. They reached three finals last season. That tells you everything about the level they reached.
“Mikel has done incredible work. The way he has built that team, the mentality he has created and the football Arsenal are playing deserve recognition.
“If I have one vote, it goes to Mikel Arteta. For me, he deserves to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or Men’s Coach of the Year award.”
Rogers thinking he had his aura moment at the Emirates only to be put on his arse twice by Konsa and Rice, before being subbed off to chants of “should have signed for a big club” and ending up on the losing team. Great Barclays
can’t spend 200m every window for 3 years and keep playing the transition card.
Chelsea haven’t won the title in a decade, despite being found guilty of cheating but bizarrely receiving no sporting punishment.
1 game a week this season. If they don’t win trophies it’s failure.
