@VVrvot@Annoyed_Science@apaaing@sigmahamster2 I feel as though greed is a natural characteristic of humans though. So even within the ruling political class greed would develop. Legislating to limit private greed I think has generally worked well. Yet there is corporate capture.
@VVrvot@SirBensalot@apaaing@sigmahamster2 But you would need some philosopher kings to rule and that has yet to work out. Unless it’s democratically decided, but then you still get individual desires making decisions. Democracy famously does not actually pursue what’s overall best for the people but only the majority.
@VVrvot@Annoyed_Science@apaaing@sigmahamster2 Well you can have a mostly free market system while still having government industry or subsidies to account for the positive externalities that some industry may produce.
@VVrvot@Annoyed_Science@apaaing@sigmahamster2 But the resource allocation isn’t as efficient as the market system. However it does make a more fair and equal system where the general public can benefit from the returns of capital, not sure if that outweighs the inefficiency.
@VVrvot@SirBensalot@apaaing@sigmahamster2 But you don’t think that market economies provide the basic needs of the people well? For instance I can work significantly fewer hours if I only desire to live modestly, but that’s purely consensual, and allows others to labor more for more material goods.
@asparagoid I agree it’s not as hopeless as many think, however if they always view you as a friend, due to your archetype or your lack of attractive qualities, then you will not succeed. And they must be receptive to conversation in the first place, which requires you to look at least ok.
@Annoyed_Science@VVrvot@apaaing@sigmahamster2 I agree, classic Hayek thought. Though there may be advantages to central planning in niche situations, as a whole the market is much better due to the dispersed information that’s transmitted through pricing.
@VVrvot@Annoyed_Science@apaaing@sigmahamster2 I can see how they can avoid some uses that u may deem as a “waste” but if it comes at the expense of individual choice then it deprives some consumers of utility. Ie most efficient thing to do it make 1 car model for everyone, yet if consumers want variety why shouldn’t they?
@VVrvot@apaaing@sigmahamster2 I personally think that ai is good as it is a tool that can be used to automate labor, to alleviate humanity of some burdens yk? Generally innovation is seen as good if the market(individuals) decide it is worth it. I think that’s decently good
@VVrvot@apaaing@sigmahamster2 But who decides what is actually worth it? Wouldn’t it be best to have individuals decide? Or should it be collectively decided at the expense of individual freedom to choose, in order to decrease waste. This would create less of an incentive to innovate I would think.
@VVrvot@apaaing@sigmahamster2 You think so? I would think the limits of technology. I would say things like solar were not being adopted bc of not being that efficient but now they are becoming very competitive and have seen a massive exponential rise in adoption. Can you give an example of the market idiocy
@bluejago@wotancore I might not reply again because I’ve gotten many annoying comments but you seem kind. He knows something is off, he doesn’t necessarily know that she is being possessed by a demon. That’s a pretty big difference.
@VVrvot@apaaing@sigmahamster2 Yes there are limited resources but we are not using them anywhere close to their potential. We have orders of magnitude more to go, meaning everyone can be wealthy at least relatively to today.
Donald Trump recalls meeting the President of Egypt:
“He was in a hotel, and I met him, and we fell in love, deeply in love. He didn’t even wanna meet Hillary [Clinton], he said “you’re going to win”… We had great chemistry, and I stayed twice as long as I was supposed to”
@PunishedPotchke It’s too comfortable, for most people the optimal move is to do nothing. It would only be beneficial if many simultaneous would rebel, but individually it is a foolish strategy.
@berzonsse Obviously one non ideal feature doesn’t cause any harm when she has high facial harmony and is good in every other way. It can make someone look unique, it’s not that the trait itself is good it’s that everything else is. It works well with her features.
