The @ChicagoBears got a top 15 pick in the 2nd round with Luther Burden III. This guy has been the best athlete on the field every time he steps on it. Fast, and explosive playmaker with the ball in his hands who can play inside, outside and out the backfield. He’s their Amon Ra.

I turned down multiple Ivy League college admission offers.
Not because I wanted a better school but because I underestimated the value of a college education.
I went to high school in a suburb outside of Chicago. In my community, everything was about sports. Kids dreamed about going to schools with massive athletic programs like @OhioState.
So, I invested all my energy into hockey and baseball. I was sure that playing Division I sports was my ticket to a successful life.
When @Yale and the @Penn tried to recruit me, even my dad encouraged me to say no. We thought there was no way I could go pro from those schools.
The years after that moment are a blur. I went to multiple high schools to chase my athletic dreams. I accepted/committed to Ohio State and joined the junior @USAHockeyNTDP team. But I burned out of the sport and quit.
I tried making another go of my athletic dreams with baseball at the University of Richmond. But by then, I had more humility: pro sports dreams are fragile; you can’t count on them.
Talking to my teammates was even more humbling. Many had tried to get into the same top-tier schools I turned down. I had these learning opportunities at my fingertips and let them go.
I was determined to get another shot. In a “Hail Mary” pass, I emailed every Ivy League school I had previously turned down to see if they had any open spots. A @PennBaseball coach called me the next day and said I had to give him a yes on the phone.
Here was the other catch: I had to graduate from junior college in one year to make the transfer work. So, I moved home, enrolled in community college, and studied harder than ever. I completed 62 credits in one school year.
Going to UPenn completely changed my life. Now I see that every educational opportunity you have opens doors you didn’t even know existed.
I took a long road to learn that lesson, but now I’m clear on my path in life.
I’m committed to giving students in any school, in any town, access to world-class learning opportunities that will open doors for them. @TrySubject
