๐ Big hearted charity for children, young people and their families living with #dyspraxia/DCD. Helpline, support and workshops for parents/carers and schools
Welcome to Ireland where people get away with racism! This little black girl broke my heart. Donโt skip this post without leaving a million heart for her. Make her famousโฆ
@PaulaMc007 I found this post so incredibly upsetting and the lack of it hitting headlines even more so. My heart goes out to you.Children aren't born with mental health problems they develop them by trying to survive in a world that doesn't understand neurodiversity. Radical change needed.
Absolutely speechless!๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐คฌ One day we might have someone who is the EdSec who actually gets it! Who understands the daily battles as a result of a broken and underfunded system and trying to meet increasingly complex needs in a system that is no longer fit for purpose #sendcrisis
@tinkerbellbites As a charity we are supporting several families through EHCP process and every draft EHCP we have seen has been hardly worth the paper it is written on because of vague wording...certainly not " specified" or "quantified" so heartbreaking for these children and families.
@sencochat Sorry thought it was weak provision to meet need. If the challenge is placement normally parents or carers can name the school of choice within reason. Even if not mainstream I understand this may not be possible. IPSEA charity may be able to help you or their website.
@sencochat Section 37 of the Childrenโs and Families Act 2014 " requires LAs to specify the SEProvision required. Provision must be detailed specific and quantified eg hours , frequency and level of expertise...." email [email protected] and I will send the whole quote and advise
@profamandakirby@judithgentle12 We completely agree. So many families who contact our charity tell us about the distress this causes. A YP told us that in yr6 she was the only child not allowed a pen. She feels she was" publicly humiliated for my dyspraxia "
