Our knowledge of Newton's 2nd Law allowed the AP Physics pumpkin to win the 10th grade Fall Fest competition. @mrRwall's and @ea_cray's awesome trebuchet is holding up to some massive forces. #LowMassHighAcceleration
After the first two lab periods were rained out, we finally got out to see if people are speeding in the school zone. These groups have their virtual lab partners in tow on Google Meet.
Collaborative lab partnerships (between in-person at remote learners) work together to make predictions about when remote control cars will collide. #HybridPhysicsClass
496 hospitalized in NYS on March 17th. 6,481 hospitalized in NYS on March 26. Good news according to @NYGovCuomo is that the rate of hospitalizations is slowing. Hospitalization rates are doubling every 4 days instead of every 2 days. @wgrz
On Valentine's Day, 31 days ago, this plate was stuck to the wall with nothing but static electricity. No tape, no glue, just charge. It's still there. Not even COVID-19 can bring this plate down. I'll update when we return....See you soon! #StayCharged
Some great quantum physics titles in this special feature section at the EAHS library! Come check one out. I love science YouTube as much as anyone(thanks @smartereveryday, and @MarkRober) but mix it up with some books too!
We had fun building "roller coasters" out of foam pipe insulation yesterday. Students built some creative coasters in limited time! We'll tie this all back to conservation of energy today with bar charts and equations representing the energy of our marble "car" #PhysicsGrind
Regents Physics students have been busy - they designed, tested and presented their Bowling Ball Crash Test bumpers over the last two weeks. Lowest force was only 28 Newtons! That's just 80% of the weight of the bowling ball itself. A great application of impulse and momentum.
Today's #APphysics lab - To rescue a struggling swimmer, make a bungee cord out of a spring and some string so that the rescue hero barely touches the surface of the water to save the swimmer.
A strong showing by EA at Physics Olympics on Sat at @buffalostate. Students competed in 3 events: Physics Books Are Falling!-Save the Egg, Foam Board Glider and Nerf Gun Challenge. A great time was had by all! Plus, witty science t-shirts make the best participation trophies!
#APphysics students designed an experiment to see who was the most powerful group member. The main requirement was that they test for max power which means max effort. You be the judge... #SoundOn
During flying pig lab, someone was wondering what would happen if we put a pig on top of a cart. Naturally, this followed... #SoundOn#DragRace#BonusActivity
Pigs were flying today during our Uniform Circular Motion Lab in #APphysics. We get great results comparing actual period to the theoretical period based on the geometry and forces on the flying pig
