@theiaincameron In 1950, my dad finished his MA in Geography at Edinburgh and started his PhD, both of which involved extensive fieldwork in the Highlands. I note he has his dates off by a day here; on the next page he states the Avimore hotel fire was on the 26th, but it was actually the 27th.
