Young men,
If you will learn early on how to:
- shake a hand
- look people in the eye
- ask a question
- listen
- stand up straight
- be on time (pro tip: early = on time)
...you will be in the top 3% of your peers before anyone cares at all what your grades are, what you do for work, how strong or good-looking you are, how much money you make, what you drive, or who your family is.
We could add more skills. How to have a conversation, introduce yourself, apologize, read a book, and more. These are hugely important too. But they are harder. The above bullet points are B-A-S-I-C and easily learned.
Rudimentary inter-personal skills are rarer with each passing year and those who receive basic coaching in this arena of life strongly stand out.
Cedar did some whittling today after school, and now we’re ending the day around a fire he got started all by himself. Grandpa has been teaching him some beneficial skills.
Happy 8th birthday to our girl, Iris! I am so grateful that the Lord gave her to our family. What a tremendous blessing she is to Jana and me. I can’t believe how fast she is growing up, but I am excited to see her grow into the young lady God has created her to be.
Excited to be heading to Andrews, NC for the Marriage Conference this weekend. Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is home away from home and I look forward to returning with my bride this weekend to the place we met 11 years ago. Thankful for the ministry of SWO and its impact!
Happy 6th birthday, Cedar man! Today has been a fun day celebrating together as a family. I'm proud of the young man he's becoming, and I'm thankful for the opportunity God has entrusted me to be his dad. We are beyond grateful that he is part of our family!

Who is Jesus? “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.” Hebrews 1:3
The glory that Moses longed to see in Exodus has now been revealed to us in the person of Jesus Christ! Glory to God!!
“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
That is really good news that you can anchor your hope and faith in today!
“Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.”’Psalm 147:1
Instead of getting bogged down by the sinfulness of the world today, choose to praise the Lord instead. It is so much better for the soul!
41 years ago, this week, I was born without arms and not breathing. The delivery room doctor looked at my dad and asked “Do you want to let him go?”
My dad chose me. He chose life.
Now I’m a husband, a daddy and an evangelist thanks to a bold and loving dad. I love you dad.
“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5
Praise the Lord for Jesus who meditates and represents us perfectly before the Father in heaven. Glory! That ought to fire you up this Monday morning!
“This is the will of God, your sanctification.” 1 Thessalonians 4:3
Want to know God’s plan for your life? It’s not a successful career, big house, or anything else. It’s sanctification, the process of being made more like Jesus. Pursue this today above everything else.
